For thousands of years, Chinese Lion Dance has been performed to bring good fortune and protection from negative influences. It provides an auspicious start to any new beginning, including opening ceremonies of any event, weddings, and of course Chinese New Year.
The Yee’s Hung Ga Lion Dance team has over 25 years experience performing at big and small events. Last year we performed at the Brooklyn Museum's 2006 Lunar New Year Family Party, where we opened the event with a traditional Lion Dance. Later in the evening, we provided an educational program, where we explained the history of the Lion Dance, taught basic Lion Dance moves, then invited children to join us in a Lion Dance parade.
